Curing Phobias with Hypnosis

Phobias: they’re not just fears. They don’t just cause discomfort- they can be debilitating, making it impossible to travel by air or visit relatives with a dog. A fear may make things more difficult but, although you may be reluctant, you can still be around what frightens you. A phobia will make you break out in a sweat and shake at just the sight of it (in more severe cases, just a mention of your fear can cause you to panic). If your phobia is interrupting your daily life, you may wish to seek hypnosis to cure you: JSN Therapies can do just that.

How does hypnosis work, you ask? It puts you into a relaxed state of mind, exploring the roots of your phobia. You may be unable to recall details but the memory will still be there in the unconscious mind: the hypnotherapist assigned to you can adjust that memory, putting it into perspective. Through this practice, the effects resulting from that event can be lessened and your phobia won’t be damaging to your daily life.

This would happen in steps. For example, if you had a phobia of dogs stemming from being attacked by a dog as a young child or because people around you were always terrified, you could imagine a tiny, whimpering puppy and notice how it’s not doing any harm. From that point, you can build up until you reach a huge, barking dog- since you’ve been building up to this point, your phobia shouldn’t be bothering you when you get to it.

Many people suffering from a phobia realise that they’re not being reasonable: they struggle to deal with it, however. This can result in feelings of guilt manifesting if their condition affects people they love. Hypnotherapy can take away the effects the phobia has on a person. After treatment, they won’t feel the intense fear or refusal to approach the object/thing and will be able to feel free, without worrying that the phobia will come back.
