Let me introduce you to ‘TC’ my little ’T’ Cell Fighter he is very important to me and to those of us who are healthy, as without him we would not be able to fight disease and other foreign body invaders, so with a healthy amount of ’T‘Cells we are able to recover from many infections without medical help. Obviously for more serious infections we need the help of antibiotics, steroids and other treatments.
However for those of you that suffer from an auto-immune condition ‘TC’ can become your enemy as he turns his fight on fellow fighter cells causing damage and destruction to other cells, cartilage, bone, tissue and to the bodies organs so that the body is unable to function properly and many people suffer debilitating pain discomfort and loss of mobility.
Doctors do their job and we must commend them in their work but their hands are tied to what medications and treatments that are on offer and are affordable on the NHS. The medications and treatments on offer only ease the symptoms and patients will be told that there is no cure but that the condition can be managed and hopefully will go into remission for periods of time but it will return with a vengeance again. Many of these medications have side effects that can also cause damage to the body.
